Dravid
is not the only one being blamed for the recent slump, coach Chappell is
being heavily criticised as well. Holding Chappell responsible for the
recent defeats, RPI MP Ramdas Athawale demanded the removal of the coach
and non-performing players.
BCCI
chief Sharad Pawar however supported the India coach, saying:
"There is no question of sacking him. Till the contract is there,
there is no need to interfere in it.
"It
is true that their [the team] performance was not up to the mark and
there is tremendous scope to improve, but one should not forget that it
is the same team, the same captain and the same coach which had given
extremely good results in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the West Indies,"
Pawar said.
Is
there truly a slump? When Parliamentarians and the lay cricket fan talk
in one voice of the golden age of Wright-Ganguly, are they on the mark?
We
present a comparative analysis of the two regimes -- tell us what you
think.
