Rahul
Dravid :
Mr .Rahul Dravid!
We knew that you are a stalwart in Indian
cricket – a great batsman, epitome of consistency –"Mr.
Dependable".
We did not know that you are a great actor
as well!
You have exposed your crooked , dirty mind
after Kotla test in Delhi . During the press conference after Delhi test ,
you
praised Sourav and expected more good knocks from him in the future . But before that conference already you with Chappell and
selectors axed Sourav in Ahmedabad test against Sri Lanka ! What a
talent you possess Rahul in acting so that you could completely fox a
bunch of journalists !
But truth must prevail. You could not hide
your malicious act. You exposed yourself! At least we Indian cricket
lovers expected little more credibility in your word and action .
Apart from that in entire episode of Sourav
, your stoic silence proved to the world what a backstabber you
could be when it comes to realizing your own ambitions. Rahul, you proved
again – silence is more vocal
than sound !
Let's see what two great captains and
players of this Indian sub continent ,Wasim Akram and Arjun Ranatunga say
about you on Sourav issue .
Wasim Akram ,thinks that
Sourav Ganguly's predicament has more to do with Greg Chappell and Rahul
Dravid
"I don't think the blame lies with
Kiran More. Such decisions also depend on the coach and the captain's
choice ."
"I believe they are the people who
decide the team. So, Greg Chappell and Rahul Dravid figure prominently in
this scheme of things ."—said Akram .
Same feeling is echoed by Ranatunga, the captain of World Cup
champion Sri Lanka.
He clearly opined: Dravid's
silence borders on complicity
"I would not like to be in Rahul Dravid's
shoes if I am the captain. In the entire Sourav Ganguly episode, his
silence borders on complicity. He has every reason to seek the team he
wants, but he also owes it to his men to be seen standing right next to
them. At best he would miss out on the trust and loyalty of his mates
which allows a captain to ask for the impossible; at worst he would be
very unpopular in the dressing room.
Truth to tell, Sourav was very impressive at
the Kotla. His two knocks (40 and 39) were well crafted and critical to
the eventual scores. His dismissal in the first innings triggered the
collapse which only accentuates his contribution on the first day. A few
of his cover drives, trust me, were the best I saw in the entire match.
He was seen giving his 100 per cent; he wanted
his place back badly. Such hunger is to be welcomed, not scorned. It has
not reflected well of the system, not of selectors or team
management."—Ranatunga completes his stand.
Yes! Rahul you can dodge journalists and
common cricketer lovers but not an ace player and captain of the game like
legendary Akram and Ranatunga!
Now this is a honeymoon phase between you and
media. So whatever you do, Media backs you. Media has hyped up
your captaincy exceedingly well. But in harsh reality are you really a captain in true sense?
During the Tenure of Sourav you were the
Deputy and so are you even now! By mere name you are the captain on the ground
but in reality you are a Deputy to coach Greg Chappell! He is the de facto
captain of the Indian cricket team now and you blindly follow his instruction only.
You are like those goody goody studious boys in the class who score well in
exam but without any personality of their own and totally
subservient to their teacher
.
Sourav is present in your existence by his
conspicuous absence. Nowadays, your face in different occasion only
reflects the tempest in your mind, guilt in your heart.
After cricket you can join in politics as well
.when India played in Eden Garden against South Africa without Sourav;
you, Rahul-- tried to create division amongst Calcuttans by nullifying the
protest of artists' forum in Sourav issue by saying –these artists
have much lesser impact on the Calcuttan crowd . The Calcutta crowd replied
back at Eden
by jeering you and the team all through. Even that day nothing went right for you in
field .Perhaps you were cursed by the grass of Eden also! Crime does not pay!
The moment you did not get support from Calcutta you changed your stance
and reaching in Mumbai, started saying against Kolkata . You tried to
create division amongst Kolkata and the rest of Indian cricketing
fraternity . Have you
learnt this-- 'divide and rule' art from your the British and
Australian counterparts?
You owe a lot to Sourav Ganguly . Both of you
started at the same time in Indian Cricket and we enjoyed your
performances and camaraderie with Sourav . There was a lean phase in your
career as well when you were labeled as "test player" – not
fit for one day. Media was against you and so were ex cricketers! But you
received an unconditional and unprecedented support from your captain Sourav .Not only he kept his faith
on you; at every stage he extended his support to you. Dada covered you
from the media attack like a true elder brother! But now! The moment you
found an opportunity you played the spoilsport in his career! If today
Sourav says
– Thou to Rahul! Should it be a misnomer? You know that as a
captain he is miles ahead of you and in team still he has a good number of
supporters! That really bothers you! And that's why you want a complete
uproot of Sourav Ganguly from Team India.
Don't forget a small phrase : History repeats
itself .
May be you have to pay back your own
coin one day !
